Bristol Batteries boss 'delighted' as turnover powers up to 6m

BRISTOL Batteries, one of the city's best known family businesses, has reported a 6.3 per cent growth in turnover in the last year.
The firm now has a turnover of more than 6 million, which has cemented its position as the top battery supplier in the South West.
As part of its growth strategy, the company last year moved its headquarters from Newfoundland Road in the city centre, where it had been based since the seventies, to a new larger headquarters in Albert Road, close to Temple Meads station.
Graham Bultitude, joint founder and managing director, said: "The move is already paying dividends as we have capacity to do more business.
"We are particularly delighted with our year-on-year results this time around, considering we are operating in a harsh and unpredictable economic climate."
He added: "The results are a testament to our commitment to providing a specialist and high quality service to our customers.
"Key to our growth last year was the extremely cold weather at the beginning of the year, which caught out many motorists.
"In addition, we have seen the emergence of new markets, particularly the agricultural and marine sector, who are interested in our solar panel and battery packages."
In its 40th anniversary year the company will be moving to new larger premises in Swindon and Truro as part of its growth plans.
Run by Graham and his wife Jacqualine, Bristol Batteries source batteries from the UK, Europe and across the world for use in a wide range of applications.
These include cars, trucks, caravans, boats, golf caddies, mobility equipment, emergency lighting, standby power, telecoms and IT back-up.
The company has branches in Swindon, Exeter, Plymouth and Truro.
